Photography with Sofie Hecht / Tuesday & Wednesday (2-4pm)

Sofie Hecht is a photographer, storyteller and educator. Originally from NYC, she has called Albuquerque her home for over 5 years and has no plans on leaving. Her work focuses on queer community, particularly collaborative portraiture, documenting drag performances, and returning home to photograph her own biological family. She is currently working on a long term photographic and documentary exploration of the effects of the Trinity test on southern New Mexicans who experience cancer and other radiogenic illnesses they attribute to their proximity to the test. She is enrolled in the UNM Communication and Journalism program where she is getting her masters degree.
